We are looking for a Director- Product for the largest automotive marketplace in Canada.

 

In this role, your focus will be on 

Autotrader is the #1 marketplace in Canada that connects vehicle buyers and sellers in one place.  Buyers search either for vehicles based on their preference, and connect to sellers or dealers through a lead, conversations, and appointment bookings. 

 

The Director of Listing Upgrades will be responsible for the portfolio of services that allow dealers to increase the visibility and reach of their vehicle inventory in the marketplace to attract more potential buyers.  S/He will be a key contributor of Trader’s growth and will be responsible for shaping the product strategy for this portfolio while overseeing the execution of the roadmap.  

 

S/He will lead the projects and initiatives end-to-end with cross-functional areas including product, engineering, analytics, sales, marketing, among other teams, to plan, build, launch, engage and monetize ensuring impact to the Company goals.

In this area, your experience and drive will provide leadership in the Product Development process and one of the core areas of Trader. Your responsibilities will include assess the current portfolio, identify opportunities and strategies through new or existing features, review analytics, partnerships and work across the product team to create strategies and execute a roadmap to meet the needs of consumer and dealers while driving revenue growth. 

 

You will need to research and understand dealers and consumer needs, competition, technology and vendor solutions that can be integrated, develop business cases and work collaboratively with key internal stakeholders and collaborators across the organization to ideate, develop and launch solutions to market.

  • Conduct customer discovery, market research and product benchmarking to identify customers un-solved needs, competitive positioning and market trends that will support your product strategy 
  • Develop business cases or impact analysis to the Company goals or OKRs to set priorities 
  • Work with internal teams and VP of Product to set the product roadmap and planning cycle
  • Define and drive feature requirements through the development cycle for its products
  • Work closely with the agile teams providing the vision of the product, description of the problem to solve, user stories and continuous feedback on the impact the team is making to OKRs
  • Work collaboratively with cross-functional teams to develop plans for product development, product engagement and go-to-market. 

 

Education and Experience

  • Post-Secondary in Engineering, Business or related discipline 
  • 7-10 years in a product management role
  • 2-3 years experience in a product leadership position
  • 3-5 years within an internet firm or digital product business, Marketplace or Ecommerce preferably 
  • Experience in data-driven, performance, or AI products a plus
  • Experience in developing, delivering and launching successful products in an Agile environment
  • Proven experience in developing and executing longer-term roadmaps and strategies
  • Experience with both B2B and B2C products required
