Senior Product Manager, Dealer Software

SUMMARY OF JOB

A Software Product Manager is responsible for the vision, roadmap, and definition of a product or solution. This role spans many types of activities, from strategic to tactical, and covers the entire product lifecycle, from inception to sunset.

A Software Product Manager researches customer needs, understands the consumer journey, and surveys competitors – in order to define a differentiated product that delivers unique value in the Canadian automotive sector.

A Software Product Manager provides leadership, brings clarity, and bridges organizational gaps between different functional teams — most often between design, engineering, marketing, sales, and support.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Gathering of and advocacy for customer, consumer, & peer needs
  • Understanding of product demographics (buyers/browsers/users/etc)
  • Assistance in collection and review of competitive & market intelligence
  • Identification of competitive SWOT, and matching of recommendations
  • Identification of opportunities for product innovation & monetization
  • Development, maintenance, & communication of 3 years roadmap
  • Formulation and communication of product vision, goals, & metrics
  • Development of unique value/selling proposition (UVP/USP, i.e. product pitch)
  • Assistance in definition of strategy for pricing & packaging
  • Determination & prioritization of scope as epics, stories, & requirements
  • Assessment of product risks, and identification of mitigation options
  • Identification of need for product piloting, and framing of pilot plan
  • Validation of user experience & product build against acceptance criteria
  • Definition and review of product performance, ROI, & usage metrics
  • Frequent communication with internal stakeholders
  • Building of customer relationship (for validation of needs & direction)

    • Ability to tell a compelling story about a customer, need, product, or initiative
    • English required; French an asset

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor degree in related field or acceptable combination of relevant education and experience required; MBA preferred
  • Minimum 6 years of direct work experience in a product management capacity required; ideally with proven track record engaging with end users of the product
  • Minimum 4 years of direct work experience bringing B2B or B2C software as a service (SAAS) to market; ideally in the automotive industry
  • Minimum 2 years of direct work experience under agile delivery model required; ideally following Kanban or Scrum methodology and using matching tools
  • Demonstrated experience engaging with and presenting to C-level executives
