Summary of Job

The primary function of this role is to ensure that Autotrader.ca’s data is collected and integrated into our 3rd party (mainly Google stack) and proprietary platforms so that is can be activated by all areas of the business.

Areas of Responsibility

  • Primary responsibility is to lead AutoTrader in how to productize our data: for internal and external use
    • Lead the Agile development team responsible for data: insights for both internal and commercial use, strategy (product and commercial) and compliance/governance
  • Accountable for understanding end to end our business usage of all our data and the prioritization of our data resources across the key business and commercial initiatives (National, TRFFK, Dealer commercial and marketing)
  • Help develop Autotrader.ca’s vision & strategic direction with data to contribute towards Commercial revenue goals against National Advertising and other Commercial business lines. This will include recommendations on GTM strategy (packaging and pricing to support internal functional teams)
  • Manage workloads, capacity, prioritization processes across Agile team members on behalf of key stakeholder groups
  • Accountable for Product delivery of data-driven projects ensuring Data Solutions, Data Tech and our Technical Infrastructure Projects take Commercial requirements into account
  • Management of all data sources: monitor data quality and accuracy, permissions and provenance. Collaboration with internal stakeholders to ensure highest data quality standards are maintained and audience segments are usable across product, marketing and advertising campaigns
  • Work closely with members of the Commercial leadership teams to discover and define new commercial opportunities (data and insight based)
  • Provide thought leadership around industry changes, form relationships and communicate internally to the senior team to understand both impact and opportunity on how to productize data
  • Responsible for ensuring compliance with relevant legislation (may include running or organizing regular training for Leadership team)
  • Championing innovation with 1st party data in the automotive space

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

REQUIRED SKILLS

Experience and skills

  • 10+ years in a data role, with at least 3 years in a management position
  • Minimum 5 years either in a publisher or advertising technology business
  • Ideally a background in Product or Development
  • A strong understanding of the MarTech / AdTech ecosystem and its interdependencies
  • In-depth knowledge of how publisher 1st party data can be activated within an O&O environment as well as across the Open Exchange
  • Knowledge of the latest regulatory changes in Canada with a view on US developments
  • An understanding of how the major browsers and walled gardens manage and control data
